Learn How to Measure For Your Fixture Size

Often times, you find yourself wondering why the lighting just doesn’t feel right in a certain space. It could be as simple as the proportions are off, such as the lighting fixture is too large for the room.

Let’s take chandeliers for example.  They come in all shapes and sizes, so how do you know how big (or small) of a chandelier is right for your desired area?  The common rule of thumb to determine the width of the fixture you need is to take the calculation of the dimension of the room.  So get out your trusty tape measure and measure both the width and the length of the room.  (Don’t fret, this math formulas won’t send you running in terror!)

Width + Length = X

X is then changed from feet to inches and that is the perfect width for your room.

For example, let’s take a room that is 10′ x 10′.

So 10′ + 10′ = 20 feet; therefore you simply need a chandeleir with a width of 20 inches for that room.

Another key forumla for determining best chandelier size in the dining room is covered in the video below, so take a brief look for further information to help you become a pro in finding the perfect fixture size and placement.
